Varicose vein treatment
Endovenous Laser Ablation Therapy (EVLT)
EVLT is used for the treatment of an incompetent saphenous vein. The saphenous vein is responsible for feeding some surface varicose veins that lead to the large bulging veins that you see. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia in our office. EVLT utilizes a laser catheter, where the catheter is inserted into the incompetent vein. The laser is then fired, delivering enough heat to seal the vein closed.
Phlebectomy
Phlebectomy is the surgical removal of any surface varicose veins that are remaining after the EVLT. Small incisions are made to pull the veins out with minimal to almost no scarring. This can be done either here in our office, or at the hospital on an out patient basis. Patients are able to resume ordinary activities with in a day.
With all procedures, compression stockings must be worn and may be purchased at the Shoreline Vein Clinic .
